"Who's The DJ?” will be presented in a single performance, on Friday, October 20, 2017, at 7:30pm, at Amnesia, located at 853 Valencia Street in San Francisco. Doors open at 6:30pm; Danny White spins DJ set 6:30-7:30pm. Admission price is on sliding scale, with no one turned away for lack of funds.

"Who's The DJ?” is a one-man show, consisting of seven songs and seven character monologues, mixed with vinyl records and performed by Danny White.

The turntables are set up in the back of the stage where Danny mixes all instrumental music, and walks out to perform seven character monologues on top of each of the tracks. The characters are all people from his life who have said something strange, funny, or offensive—all of which have influenced the person that the DJ is. Ideally, the crowd would be on stage surrounding him, dancing to the music, and being "acted upon,” as if the characters are speaking to them directly.

The show is entertaining and funny, but also with a universal message of “don’t judge a book by its cover,” as the characters are all relatable people we may encounter in life.

Written and performed by Danny White, "Who's The DJ?” debuted on March 5, 2017 at the Annoyance Theater in Brooklyn and is currently in production at the People’s Improv Theater in New York City.

Danny White, creator and performer of Who's the DJ

Danny White is an art director by day and performer by night—a DJ pursuing acting and improv comedy in New York City.

For over a decade, while working as the Art Director of Thrasher skateboard magazine, he ran the Indie Slash party in San Francisco, guest DJed at numerous events in the New Wave scene over the years, and once opened for Duran Duran on their 2011 tour at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.

In 2012, he moved back East, landed a job at Fast Company magazine, and brought the newly branded Fine Time party to Brooklyn. Shortly after its beloved Tandem Bar closed up shop in late 2014, he stumbled upon a drop-in improv class at an art space in Bushwick called La Luz, and discovered a new outlet for artistic expression.

Furthering his comedy training at the Annoyance Theater, and taking acting courses at HB Studio, he landed on an idea for "Who's The DJ?,” a one-man show that brings DJing and theater together in a DIY punk show kind of way.
